Master tape was recorded on Ampex tape recorder at WHBO Radio studio, Tampa, Florida. Bill Polk - engineer. From the Back Cover
Dear Friends:
William E. "Bill" Crigger was fourteen years old when he learned to play a guitar and sing with a Salvation Army string band in Independence, Kansas. He was taught the fundamentals of music in a brass band class conducted by Captain and Mrs. Earl Sunderland. The story of his conversion is told in his testimony song, "His Love Is Wonderful to Me." He began singing and playing in Sunday School where he still believes every family should be together on Sunday morning.
Bill sang and played his guitar in hospitals and churches throughout Kansas and Missouri, and finally in Michigan where he met his wife Joanne Carol Barnsdale, whom he married in 1950.
Two months after moving to Tampa, Florida, August 23, 1952, Bill was stricken with polio. Paralysed from his chest down he lay in an iron lung sixteen days. I can hear him yet as he said when it was almost impossible for him to speak, "God won't let me down!" Eight months later he was released from Tampa General Hospital, and it was then he wrote his first song, "Have Faith in God." God has given him many more songs since then, twelve of which you will be privileged to hear recorded for the first time on this record.
Bill believes that an inspired song, sung in the Spirit of God, can be as far reaching as a sermon preached from the pulpit. Though still partially paralysed from the chest down, God has spared his arms, hands, and mind, to write, play his guitar, and sing for you.
Although he is confined to his wheel chair, this does not deter him in encouraging others through his ministry in song. Most of his Sunday afternoons are spent with shut-ins in rest homes and hospitals, and he is well known in many different churches throughout the country. Bill and Joanne are the proud parents of four lovely daughters and live at 926 East 120th Avenue, Tampa, Florida. (Crigger no longer is alive and does not live at this address. The editor).
The title, "Songs from the Heart," is a true caption, for each song was indeed written and sung from the heart. It is our prayer that your heart will be blessed each time you play this record.
Sincerely,
Ruth Barnsdale Daniels

A Note from Larry Crump... (from the back cover)
I was born on January 14, 1932, in a rural boarding house near Richmond, Virginia. My mother, Rosy Salmon, was a farm girl from Halifax County and my dad, John B. Crump, was a young carpenter. Dad build our house himself during the depression. This is where my musical background started. Dad played a fiddle and how I loved it. Later he bought a guitar and when my hands grew big enough he let me learn to play. My three younger brothers, Irwin, Curtis and "Butch" (Owen), have all grown up with the same love for guitar pickin'.
I quit Midlothian High to join the Navy in 1951. I believed there were more "kicks" for me out in the world. At the end of my hitch in service I met my wife, Dorothy Manchester, in New Bedford, Massachusetts. We settled down in her home town and the next few years brought many changes in our lives. Just before the birth of our first child, Cheryl, we began to visit Elim Baptist Church where we were challenged by the Gospel of Jesus Christ. After we both accepted Christ we became active in church work and in raising our other children: Laurie, John, James, Virginia and Timothy.
During this time I also became concerned about the lack of a high school diploma. So I went back to school and worked nights to take care of my family. These were hard years but the Lord was with us through it all.
My first gospel song was written on a Sunday evening in church. The pastor, Ed Hales, was speaking in his usual clear and loving style, but for some reason I couldn't concentrate on his message. Instead, I wrote the words to "Let Me Walk with God" on the edges of a church bulletin.
Many people have heard my songs and enjoyed them but my earnest prayer is this: That many people will come to know the Lord of these songs who is also the Lord of my life.
