Master tape was recorded on Ampex tape recorder at WHBO Radio studio, Tampa, Florida. Bill Polk - engineer. From the Back Cover
Dear Friends:
William E. "Bill" Crigger was fourteen years old when he learned to play a guitar and sing with a Salvation Army string band in Independence, Kansas. He was taught the fundamentals of music in a brass band class conducted by Captain and Mrs. Earl Sunderland. The story of his conversion is told in his testimony song, "His Love Is Wonderful to Me." He began singing and playing in Sunday School where he still believes every family should be together on Sunday morning.
Bill sang and played his guitar in hospitals and churches throughout Kansas and Missouri, and finally in Michigan where he met his wife Joanne Carol Barnsdale, whom he married in 1950.
Two months after moving to Tampa, Florida, August 23, 1952, Bill was stricken with polio. Paralysed from his chest down he lay in an iron lung sixteen days. I can hear him yet as he said when it was almost impossible for him to speak, "God won't let me down!" Eight months later he was released from Tampa General Hospital, and it was then he wrote his first song, "Have Faith in God." God has given him many more songs since then, twelve of which you will be privileged to hear recorded for the first time on this record.
Bill believes that an inspired song, sung in the Spirit of God, can be as far reaching as a sermon preached from the pulpit. Though still partially paralysed from the chest down, God has spared his arms, hands, and mind, to write, play his guitar, and sing for you.
Although he is confined to his wheel chair, this does not deter him in encouraging others through his ministry in song. Most of his Sunday afternoons are spent with shut-ins in rest homes and hospitals, and he is well known in many different churches throughout the country. Bill and Joanne are the proud parents of four lovely daughters and live at 926 East 120th Avenue, Tampa, Florida. (Crigger no longer is alive and does not live at this address. The editor).
The title, "Songs from the Heart," is a true caption, for each song was indeed written and sung from the heart. It is our prayer that your heart will be blessed each time you play this record.
Sincerely,
Ruth Barnsdale Daniels

A Note from Larry Crump... (from the back cover)
I was born on January 14, 1932, in a rural boarding house near Richmond, Virginia. My mother, Rosy Salmon, was a farm girl from Halifax County and my dad, John B. Crump, was a young carpenter. Dad build our house himself during the depression. This is where my musical background started. Dad played a fiddle and how I loved it. Later he bought a guitar and when my hands grew big enough he let me learn to play. My three younger brothers, Irwin, Curtis and "Butch" (Owen), have all grown up with the same love for guitar pickin'.
I quit Midlothian High to join the Navy in 1951. I believed there were more "kicks" for me out in the world. At the end of my hitch in service I met my wife, Dorothy Manchester, in New Bedford, Massachusetts. We settled down in her home town and the next few years brought many changes in our lives. Just before the birth of our first child, Cheryl, we began to visit Elim Baptist Church where we were challenged by the Gospel of Jesus Christ. After we both accepted Christ we became active in church work and in raising our other children: Laurie, John, James, Virginia and Timothy.
During this time I also became concerned about the lack of a high school diploma. So I went back to school and worked nights to take care of my family. These were hard years but the Lord was with us through it all.
My first gospel song was written on a Sunday evening in church. The pastor, Ed Hales, was speaking in his usual clear and loving style, but for some reason I couldn't concentrate on his message. Instead, I wrote the words to "Let Me Walk with God" on the edges of a church bulletin.
Many people have heard my songs and enjoyed them but my earnest prayer is this: That many people will come to know the Lord of these songs who is also the Lord of my life.

Comments from liners: "Seven of the songs on this album originally appeared in different forms on the first CIRCLE OF DUST release in 1992. Due to more factors than I'd care to name, I wasn't satisfied with that first release. Some two-plus years later I was given the opportunity to re-work and re-record the songs I thought were still relevant. These, along with a few new songs, comprise what I consider to be my first album. Confused? So am I." Scott.

*Godcore 1: US Decay. The Furnace Room. 1989. CS.
*Godcore 3: Conviction of Sin Live. The Furnace Room. 1989. CS.
Godcore 1: US Decay
Burrito: vocals. Keith: guitar. Mark Brown: bass. Don Daudet: drums. Recorded at Guido's in Covina, California (February 1985) by Tracy G. Chris Yambar: executive producer (the tape). Steven Mathewson: co-producer. Cover art by Chris Yambar for Artatak Studios. No song titles are listed on the cassette.
Godcore 3: Conviction of Sin - Live
Same lineup as US Decay. Recorded in Los Angeles, California at a live show (which also showcased the bands: Outcast, 316 and Bill Walden). Chris Yambar - executive producer (the tape). Steven Mathewson - co-producer. Cover art by Chris Yambar for Artatak Studios. No song titles are listed on the cassette.
Liner Notes from the two cassettes
Before becoming a Christian, Burrito was heavily involved in the LA hardcore scene. Violence and rebellion were popular forms of expression among the youth. After becoming a Christian, Burrito saw that there was a great need to reach others with the truth of Jesus Christ so he formed a band called GVA (God's Victorious Army). Although Burrito fit into the scene (with his black hair, blonde mohawk, triple earrings, trench coat and Doc Martins) the other members of GVA did not really understand it since they were never really a part of the community. Burrito then went on to form Conviction of Sin. As a band COS gigged 9 months abd recorded two cassette projects which went unreleased until now (the second project being Conviction of Sin - Live). During this time the Christian underground began to thrive with ZOTT and The Activist keeping it informed. Bands wern't concerned with getting signed. The scene was alive and vital.
(Continued on Godcore Tape #3)
The bands just wanted to preach Christ. ATOC, Circle One, The Scattered Few and The Lead were all in the vortex of the Christian punk / Godcore movement. There were no studios, only garages and basements. There were no expensive mixers, only tape decks and boom boxes. There were no promoters or managers, only friends with a willingness to pitch in. The word 'community' meant something. When a song was sung you knew what they were talking about and where they stood. Lyrics weren't simply 'positive,' they were open and totally upfront. This was the Underground Burrito was involved in. His main interest was in ministry, so he and two friends (Mike and Gary) formed Radicals for Christ. It was then that Burrito was asked to join a band called Moral Majority... (continued on Godcore Tape #2). (I do not have a copy of #2).
